16-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers are breaking into a house for looting when they are caught red-handed by the owner of the house, Ms. Madea. Instead of reporting the case to the authority, she feeds them and decides she must do something to help: by sending the young delinquents to the only relative they have: their aunt April - an alcoholic nightclub singer. Neglecting the kids at first, but April's attitude gradually changes along the way and she feels like becoming a better person, and that cann't happen without the emerge of the new neighbor - a handsome Mexican immigrant who has just moved in.
