The Last of the Mohicans

Set in the 1750s during the French and Indian War, the story follows a European-born adopted son of a Mohican scout name Hawkeye. He teams up with the Mohican Uncas and a group of Britons including Cora Munro and her younger sister Alice who are saved from a Huron war party by Hawkeye and fight together for the British Fort William Henry which is surrounded by a French and Huron force.
