The film centers on Emma Bovary who bored in her marriage to a country doctor. After attending an elegant ball given by the Marquis d'Andervilliers, Emma finds her married life dull and becomes listless. After that, she decides to pursue her dreams of passion and excitement and she also takes a lover, and begins a devastating spiral into deceit and despair.
