The Wilson family including parents Debbie and Harry Wilson, their daughter Annie and adopted son Dixon, try to adjust to their new lives in Beverly Hills after relocating from the Midwest to California: Annie struggles to balance romances, friendships as well as popularity and identity; Dixon has issues with his adoption and African-American heritage while Harry and Debbie surprisingly discover that Harry has a son with Tracy Clark, his former high school sweetheart.
