The movie tells the story of an AWOL soldier who sneaks back to his hometown and comes into possession of another soldier’s medal for heroism, the Medal of Victory. The townsfolk assume he is a war hero, and the soldier becomes dragged into the cutthroat politics of a mayoral race.
